Wrapped in my Blanky. I'm sick.

Sep 25, 2005 1:15 pm by BogusRed

That's right. I'm sick. Too sick to type...almost anyway. I don't know what I've got. Probably a cold or flu or something. It always turns into a sinus infection in the end though and I end up missing lots of school.

I spent most of my day with Mike playing video games and watching tv. Mike is such a sweety. I also took many naps. I hardly ate anything for dinner [emoticon]

I still need to finish the work on the Art database and stuff for my SketchBlog. I hope I can get it done by the end of September. I have a lot of drawings to post.

Edit: After reading a couple articles on MedlinePlus.gov, I have concluded that I most likely have the flu since I've got muscle aches, chills, and headaches. Alright, I'm going to bed soon.

Switched from Micfo to Dreamhost

Sep 19, 2005 1:59 pm by BogusRed

Well, today I had to switch hosting services yet again. A little more than two weeks ago I switched over from Apollohosting.com (worst host ever!) to Micfo.com. Micfo has this 30 day free trial so I decided to try it out and I have a friend that recommended them. With Micfo, my paperdemon.com site has gone down at least 5 times within the short time I’ve been with them. And it was down for at least a few hours each time. One day it was down for like more than 12 hours. My email for all of my domains was also down as a result.

Today, though, was sort of a last straw. Suddenly the GD Library for PHP had disappeared. If you know much about PHP, you know that the GD library is sort of like an image manipulation software that is bundled with PHP. I use it on PaperDemon.com for uploading and resizing artwork. It took them a few hours before they got it back online.

Right then, I started looking for a new hosting service.

Maybe I’m overreacting, but I think if my site had THAT much down time in the span of only two weeks, that might be a pattern of what I’ll be seeing for the next year had I decided to sign up with them.

They’re tech support is pretty fast though. Most of the time they respond within an hour to your requests, even if they are at low priority. It could be one of those things where I just had bad luck with them. I must have just ended up on an unstable server or something. So if you are considering Micfo.com, I’d say go ahead and try them out and see for yourself. Don’t let my bad experience with them stop you because I probably just got unlucky.

So I decided to go with Dreamhost. A friend also recommended them to me and there are a lot of good reviews on epinion.com. They also have a lot of the features I want and they have a 97 money back guarantee. I also got a really good deal by purchasing a whole year of service (which waived the setup fee) and had a promo code that gave me $ 90 off [emoticon] .

Anyway, so far I don’t have any complaints with Dreamhost. [emoticon] Zarbonsmasterpiecetheater.com and bogusred.net are now running smoothly on Dreamhost. PaperDemon will take a while to get moved though.

It’s gonna be a loooong night.

Plagiarist MetallicaOne

Sep 17, 2005 7:32 pm by BogusRed

It's 3am so this post may be a little sloppy. Here's the WHOLE story!

Today (yesterday now that it's passed midnight) I banned a member on PaperDemon.com. This dude was rude! He posted an artwork of Chibi James Hetfield and he made me a bit suspicious. Whenever a person posts art and doesn't provide much in the description, it raises a red flag. Most artists talk about their process in their descriptions or inspiration or something. This dude wrote something like "It's Chibi James Hetfield" in the description.

So all I did was ask him what he used to color it. He said something like "Oh my uncle is an artist and he did it for me with something called Photoshop 7.0. Sorry I don't know much about computers." (Sorry that I don't have exact quotes. I'll explain the reason why later in this post.)

Well I thaught by IT he meant the whole art piece. I said plainly something like "Sorry but you aren't allowed to post artwork that isn't yours."

He replied saying something like "I drew it he just colored it. are you calling me a liar?"

I then replied saying that I never accused him of such a thing, however, he still needs to give credit where it is due. I asked him to please edit the description of his artwork to say that his uncle colored it.

It did raise another red flag with me when he got all defensive like that. I never accused him of plagiarism. I was merely stating what the rules of the site are. There are times where people post art for their family or friends which goes against my site rules. Sometimes people just misunderstand the purpose of the site and think that they can just post cool pics. I just thought this was one of those instances. By the way, that whole conversation was going on in the comments/reviews section of his artwork. Instead of replying to me there, he sends me the following message:

I really find it offensive. The next time you decide to put a comment on here that implys that i am a "liar", make sure you know all the facts before hand. I can understand though why you think that I did not draw this, but you have to give the benefit of the doubt. My uncle helped in the making of this, so, I guess you could say that I didn't draw this. But the matter of the fact is; I most certainly drew it.
Please next time, before you get all inclinde to tell me i'm a "fraud", just simply ask a qustion, and I will gladly answer it.

Woah! Another red flag! "i guess you could say that I didn't draw this. but the matter of the fact is; i most certainly drew it." which is the truth here? I then started to type a reply telling him he's way out of line giving me that tone of voice when I realized there was another message from him. before hitting the Send Reply button, I decided to read his second message:

I'm going to delete my picture off of this site. Like you actually care, but I do. I am not plagiaristic.

I decided instead to send him my reply via email just incase I scared him away from the site. As I was typing it I decided I might as well ban him. I didn't really think he plagiarized but besides that, he was just really rude. I spend a lot of time developing that site and for him to be so ungrateful for the service I provide at no charge really made me mad.

As I was writing the email, I went to the original artwork to quote my words specifically so that I could show him that he was overreacting. I found that all of the comments were gone. I knew he didn't hav ethe privilages to do so and then realized that he had actually deleted his artwork and reposted it! The turd probably did it to get rid of my posts!

So I banned him for rudeness as well as suspicious behavior and appended the standard "you are bannished from paperdemon.com, etc." to the email. Later, I thaught just for kicks I'd do a google search to see if I could find that artwork anywhere else on the net. I did infact find it and found that this turd MetallicaOne isn't the original artist and did plagiarize. I immediately notified the two original artists. I'm considering sending this turd Christopher another email. I've documented his IP address and online activity as per my usual procedure in these cercumstances.

Because of this incodent with him deleting his own artwork to remove my posts, I've reworked the way paperdemon.com handles deleted entries. From now on, art entries aren't really deleted. They are just "moved" to another part of the site that only I have access to and is locked in place. Also, the comments aren't deleted unless I specifically delete them. Members can't edit their comments once an artwork is "moved" however the comments page for the artwork still is visible to the public. The artwork itself isn't though. This isn't just to prevent this same sort of occurence. In the past, I've hastily deleted artwork before documenting it when I knew it was plagiarized or was a type of art that wasn't allowed on the site.

What's funny and sort of sad is this guy might as well have painted PLAGIARIST in big red letters on his forehead because he was so overly defensive. I think he knew he was going to get caught and that's why he made that dirty post in my chatbox on paperdemon.com. If any of you saw it, it was funny and sad and dirty. I documented it before removing it. So sad. Thank God these plagiarists are stupid! They just beg to be caught!

I can't believe the audacity of this little turd! His private message was so darn rude! It's like he's trying to boss me around! It's my site and you better play nice or I'll ban you. Maybe he didn't even know that I was the site administrator. But how could he miss? My alias is the only alias that shows up in red letters. I dunno. It boggles my mind. I just can't believe it. Everytime one of these plagiarizing bastards comes along it just doesn't compute why someone would do such a thing.

Edit: OMG I just realized the little duche bag made the following post in my chatbox as well:

I'm interested in misappropriating everyone pictures. [emoticon]

Misappropriating means stealing! Thanks to EvilBunnySlippers for pointing this out to me. What a crazy art thief! He basically told us he's a thief!

Close to finishing art section ZMT might be saved

Sep 11, 2005 6:25 am by BogusRed

Well I'm getting close to finishing up the art gallery section of my sketchblog which means I'll finally be able to include my artwork in my blog posts. [emoticon]

My Dad got me a new digital camera on friday for my birthday. (Thank you Dad!) It's really small; small enough to fit in my pocket, which is nice.  It's a Konica Minolta DiMage X50. I also got a 1GB SD memory card for it so I can store tons of images on it.

I was surprised to find a Super Macro digital subject program built into the camera. There are a lot of digital subject programs built into it but this one I was really happy to get because it allows me to take clear pictures of small objects.

My old digital camera is really clunky. It's big and heavy and the memory card can only hold 5 pictures at a resolution of 3 Megapixels. My new camera with the 1GB memory card can hold about 500 pictures at the same resolution.

The maximum megapixels on my old camera is 3, wheras my new one is at 5 megapixels. 3 is really all anyone needs. If you are looking into buying a digital camera, don't pay too much attention to how many megapixels it has because most cameras have more than 3 and 3 is all you need.

On thursday night, I discovered that the data for all of my websites on my old hosting account was deleted. This put me in tears because it meant I lost all of the data in the database for Zarbon's Masterpiece Theater since it hadn't been moved over to my new hosting account yet at micfo.com

But today, I was relieved to find out that my old host has a backup and will have it restored tomorrow. So hopefully ZMT will be up and running just as good as ever tomorrow.

It's my birthday and I'm 22 years young.

Sep 7, 2005 5:39 pm by BogusRed

It's about 1:30 am on the morning of my birthday and I'm up late working on Vis Dev homework. I tried out that new Google Talk today and got a kick out of the voice chat. I was surprised at how good it sounds compared to Ventrillo and Yahoo voice chat. The quality is pretty good.

I finished up the Music Page today and realized that I hadn't really posted any new music since like the end of last year. So when I get the chance this weekend I'll record a new song and post it. I'm thinking of doing Ahead On Our Way from FFV and/or a Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger Prologue medley. I actually recorded a version of that called Turn the Page but then removed it from the music section because i felt it was too underdeveloped. The file is still stored on the site if you want to give it a listen in MP3 or MIDI format.

If you have a song in mind that you'd like me to record or learn, feel free to send me your requests in an email.

The First Of Many

Sep 6, 2005 4:48 pm by BogusRed

This is my first blog entry here at my personal website BogusRed.net. For those of you who haven't been to BogusRed.net for a while, you may be a little confused. If you were looking for Paper Demon Media, the art and writing community, it has moved to a new, more suitable  domain name PaperDemon.com

Since the Paper Demon community moved to another domain name, I figured I'd use BogusRed.net for my own personal space on the web. Once I get everything up and running, you'll find my sketches and fanart as well as my music. In the meantime, you can view much of my artwork at Paper Demon.

Well, just yesterday my boyfriend bought me a new hard drive for my upcoming birthday on Sept. 8th. It's 200GBs woo hoo! My old drive was only 80 and it was getting pretty full. So full that it slowed down my computer's performance. Now I can use that extra 80GB hard drive for backups [emoticon] .

Just this passed weekend I moved over the Paper Demon site to its new domain name and server space at micfo.com hosting. I've never tried this host before but I heard from a friend it was good and they gave me a free month trial! I've only had minor setup problems so far and I've found the tech support to be extremely fast, unlike my last host Apollohosting.com. That's one of the major reasons I decided to switch. I have a whole list of reasons why I switched but I don't care to repeat them here. You can read about it in the Paper Demon News Post on the site move. If you are considering apollohosting.com for your hosting needs, forget it. They suck. My reasons are listed in my newspost.

Anyway, that's all for now. Hopefully I'll get the art and music sections up within the next few weeks. I don't really expect anyone to see this site during these first few weeks of september because the index page of the site is pointing to paperdemon.com to update search engines.
